Craving something warm, simple, and full of flavor? Masala Khichdi is the perfect mix of rice, lentils, and aromatic spices — a wholesome one-pot meal that feels like a hug in a bowl! 💛
📝 *Ingredients:*
½ cup rice 🍚
¼ cup moong dal (split yellow lentils)
1 tbsp ghee or oil
½ tsp cumin seeds
1 onion (chopped)
1 tomato (chopped) 🍅
1 small carrot & a few peas 🥕
½ tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chili powder
Salt to taste
2 cups water
👩🍳 *Instructions:*
1. Wash rice and dal together and soak for 15 minutes.
2. Heat ghee in a pressure cooker, add cumin seeds and let them crackle.
3. Add onions, sauté till golden, then add tomatoes and cook till soft.
4. Mix in all spices and vegetables.
5. Add rice and dal, stir well, and pour in water.
6. Pressure cook for 3–4 whistles until soft and mushy.
7. Serve hot with ghee, papad, or pickle for that homely comfort!
