🍚 *Jeera Rice Recipe (Cumin Rice)*
🧂 *Ingredients*
1 cup basmati rice
2 cups water
1 tbsp ghee or oil
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1 small bay leaf (optional)
1 green chili (slit) – optional
Salt to taste
🔥 *Instructions*
1. Wash and soak basmati rice for 20 minutes, then drain.
2. Heat ghee in a pan. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
3. Add bay leaf and green chili, sauté for 30 seconds.
4. Add soaked rice and sauté gently for 1–2 minutes.
5. Add 2 cups water and salt. Stir and bring to a boil.
6. Cover and simmer on low heat until rice is cooked and water is absorbed (about 12–15 minutes).
7. Let it rest for 5 minutes. Fluff with fork.
8. Serve hot with chana curry, dal or any gravy dish.
